Known issues / bug log


We have bashed hundreds of bugs over the many years of development to bring this project to life. However, there are always more bugs that creep in that we hope to solve in future releases and give you workarounds for now.

CURRENT KNOWN BUGS

General:

  1. App freezes / takes a long time to load the jams
    Some users report that the service seems to hang on initial load or get stuck at 14%. Our audio files are hosted on AWS, and we're not sure why it's so slow. Possibly a recent security update?
    SOLUTION: We've found an innovative solution that we're working on for the next app update. For now, please have patience while the tracks load. Give it a minute.

MacOS specific:

  1. Crackly / static-y sound
    Godot's audio rendering isn't always perfect. We'll likely have to do an internal deep-dive to see what our team can do about solving this and/or building out our own audio system in future versions. For the current version, it means that sometimes the audio playback can sometimes get crackly or static-y.
    SOLUTIONS: If the main audio is having problems, close and relaunch the app. If the cover recording tool has crackly playback issues, reloading the flip from the main menu (select "cover" in the main menu) frequently solves it.
  2. The app asked to access my microphone and I said "no". Now I can't record covers or album bumpers.
    In order to record covers or album bumpers, the app requires access to your computer's microphone. The microphone is required ONLY WHEN USING THIS APP for the purpose of recording covers and album bumpers. Your computers' microphone is not accessed at any other time, and no microphone data is transmitted or stored except for the explicit purpose of recording covers and album bumpers.
    SOLUTION: Follow the instructions on the Apple Support page to allow access to the microphone (link here).

iOS specific:

  1. Music doesn't play / no audio
    This can happen if the phone is muted (there's a toggle switch on the left-hand side of the phone to mute the phone / set to vibrate mode). This is specific to the Godot platform. Currently the developers of the platform aren't prioritizing this problem since there's an easy solution on the users side. We may try to solve independently in a future release, pending Apple's feedback.
    SOLUTION 1: Un-mute the phone / turn off vibrate
    SOLUTION 2: Double-check that your iPhone/iPad isn't connected to bluetooth or other speakers. Native audio only (for now)
  2. Some of the tracks don't play properly. I can hear one or two songs, but then all the other songs are the same. The song titles change, but the music stays the same
    Our members have found that if you hit "play" immediately it can sometimes fail to load all the current featured album tracks properly.
    SOLUTION: We've found the app works best when you let the full album load (loading bar reaches 100%). We're working on a fix for this for our next update. For now, patience is a virtue. Give it time and things will be fine. Just let the full album load before hitting play
  3. App is oriented wrong
    Users of older iPhones report that the app is stuck in horizontal mode, and if they turn their phone horizontally the app won't realign and remains stuck halfway off screen.
    SOLUTION: Unfortunately, the only solution here is to get a newer iPhone to unlock the full app experience. For now, the play/pause button is accessible so you can at least hear the jams, which is the point of the vt in the first place
  4. Can't copy / paste in text input fields
    Not sure what caused this error in earlier builds, and it may continue to be a problem for iOS builds. Pending feedback from Apple.
    SOLUTION: Type in text manually
  5. App is unresponsive while using the phone to talk to someone
    The app requires full-screen mode, so using other apps on the phone at the same time may cause anomalous behavior.
    SOLUTION: Use the vt app when you're interested in focussing on the music and deep listening, not while multitasking.
  6. Can't submit covers via the iOS app
    While exporting our initial launch versions of the app an anomalous bug popped up related to the microphone that crashed the app. Not sure what's happening, we'll dig into this to solve for future releases. Might need some feedback from Apple.
  7. Lugnut Roulette controls don't work
    This is a weird bug, not sure what's causing it. The controls appear to work fine on MacOS and Windows, but not iOS.


Android specific:

  1. Crashes on launch
    The app is currently unreleased because of a crashing issue. May be related to the same microphone issue that was causing the iOS version to crash. We'll dig into this to solve for future releases.
